My daughter Jayme started at  A Step In Time just after she turned 2 years old.  I was a little worried about her being too young for dance classes but I wanted to get her involved in an activity with other children.  I met Miss Sherry and Miss Lacey at their dance booth at the 2006 Shiawassee County Fair.  After talking to them about their dance studio I could tell they loved dance and their students.  We started the Pre-Kinderdance class that September.  When classes began I still was not sure Jayme was ready but after the first class I knew I had made the right choice.   From that first class and through this last dance season Miss Sherry and Miss Lacey always make sure that Jayme is involved and feels good about what she is doing.  They always take the extra time to help her out whenever she needs it.   They always are very encouraging and have positive things to say to Jayme and all the students in the class..

Jayme loves dance classes and after each class wants to know when is the next class.  She is always talking to everybody about what she is doing in dance and telling them about Miss Sherry and Miss Lacey.  I can tell that Jayme truly enjoys being at a Step In Time Dance Academy.  We will be going on our third year at the studio and we are going to do karate classes this year too.  I am now looking forward  to when my daughter Danielle can start dance classes and have the chance to enjoy the experience.

Thank you Miss Sherry and Miss Lacey for all your hard work, for making Jayme feel special, and making dance FUN for the Zelenka Family.

Sincerely,
Amanda Zelenka

Independent News 6-25-08

On June 14 th , 2008 the Dancers, Twirlers, Karate Kids, Tumblers, and Parents of A Step In Time Fine Arts Academy invited their family and friends to “Be Our Guest” at the studios annual recital! As the lights dimmed in the auditorium 2 young men walked in front of the big red curtain and invited you to pull up a chair and relax as the dining room presented “your dinner”! As they pulled the curtain open to reveal 8 young ladies carrying silver platters dancing to “Be Our Guest”. As their routine came to an end the dancers exited the stage through the audience, and like magic when they were gone you looked at the stage to find the next act ready to perform for you!

Every act seemed to be ready to perform their little hearts out for you as soon as they stepped onto the Perry High School stage. Even the youngest of dancers! And I mean YOUNG.... One of the dances was a Mommy & Me dance where the dancer performs with their Mom because they are such a young dancer. I must say that I saw even the Ninja Moms of the studio up on that stage demonstrating what they have learned in class to “Kung Fu Fighting”. The audience got a real kick out of that routine! A Step In Time Ninja Moms had hopes that by showcasing their group at the annual recital it would encourage other women of the area to take a fun approach to self defense in the future.

By far I have to say that the most entertaining act was called “Peppermint Twist”. Gymnasts rode scooters up ramps leading to the stage through the audience and through a human jumprope!!! I'm not a dance expert, but i could tell that the dance symbolized all the funfilled times of childhood. From giant ABC blocks, scooters, and a larger than life teeter totter. To all the high energy, flipping, and dancing!

As the show came to an end all the dancers walked out of the curtains and through the audience, next thing you knew the curtain opened to reveal them all onstage again with bubbles floating in the air! A Step In Time really covered all aspects of making the night a magical one for the performers and the audience!

So what's next for A Step In Time? A summer jam packed full of fun for kids of all ages! And for those parents who are already missing those days to themselves while the kids were at school! Summer events include 4 day adventures including titles such as DANCE PRINCESS, SUPERHERO IN TRAINING, SO YOU REALLY WANNA DANCE, and SO YOU WANNA BE ON MTV! These events follow their theme for 4 days on as the adventure comes to and end we will celebrate with family and friends. A Step In Time will also be offering 1 day intensives and crash courses! Themes including Mini Majorettes, Back Handsprings, Handstands, Balance Beam (with 3 beam levels to work on), Tramp & Aerials, Leaps & Turns, and Safety For Summer (what to do when in a dangerous situation). Other exciting events are the studios Mini Makeover Night, Hip Hop Hour, and Sports Strength Training! For more details and information people can call A Step In Time at 989-413-3373, or drop by the studio (718 S. Chipman St., Owosso) during the summer office hours of Tuesdays and Thursdays between Noon-2 and 5-7 PM! All the fun kicks off in June!
